Questions

Straight answers.

Who photographs hotels and inns in Carmel and Monterey?

I do. I'm Manny Espinoza, a Carmel-by-the-Sea photographer with thirty years on the Monterey Peninsula. My hospitality work includes the Cypress Inn in Carmel, The Charles in Napa Valley, whose photos ran in Travel + Leisure, the Pacific Grove Inn and the Hogs Breath Inn. I shoot on a 102-megapixel medium-format Fujifilm GFX 100 II, so the files hold up on a billboard as well as a booking page.

How much does hotel photography cost?

Packages start at $2,500 for a one-day shoot of up to 12 rooms or spaces, about 40 finished images. The Signature package is $3,800 over two days with twilight exteriors and about 70 images. The Flagship package is $5,500 over three days with the full property, twilight, aerials, short video clips and about 100 images. Every package includes full usage rights for your website, booking sites, social media and print with no time limit. A 50 percent deposit holds the dates.

What does a hotel photography shoot include?

A planning call to list every room type and space that matters, a room-by-room prep checklist for housekeeping, and a shot list timed to the light, so east-facing rooms are photographed in the morning and west-facing rooms in the afternoon. Each room gets a wide view that shows the bed, the window light and the view, plus details like the tub, the fireplace or the welcome tray. Common spaces, dining, the pool and the grounds are photographed at their best hour, and the exteriors at twilight when the windows glow.

How long does it take and how disruptive is it?

A twelve-room inn is one day. A larger property is two or three. Rooms being photographed need to be vacant and fully made up, so most properties block a handful of rooms per day on a low-occupancy weekday rather than closing anything. Guests in common areas are worked around, not asked to move.

When do we get the photos and how can we use them?

The full gallery is delivered within seven business days through a private online gallery, in print resolution and web sizes for your site, Expedia, Booking.com, Airbnb and social media. You own full usage rights with no time limit and no per-use fees. Social-ready selects can be delivered within 48 hours on request.

Do you photograph restaurants and bars inside hotels?

Yes. Dining rooms, bars, breakfast rooms and the food itself are part of most hotel shoots, and I also photograph restaurants on their own. See the food and restaurant photography page for that work.

My exterior and courtyard photographs of The Charles ran in Travel + Leisure in July 2026, credited to Manny Espinoza for The Charles Inn. The same images carry the hotel's website, booking pages and press kit. One shoot, every channel.
