Questions

Straight answers.

How much does an agriculture photographer in the Salinas Valley cost?

A half day of up to four hours is $1,300, a full day of up to eight hours is $2,400, and a leadership portrait session for up to six people is $1,600. Beyond the package hours the rate is $350 an hour. Every package includes a planning call, same-day social selects on request, a full edited gallery within 48 to 72 hours and full usage rights. There is no travel charge anywhere in Monterey County. A 50 percent deposit holds the date.

Which produce companies have you photographed?

Church Brothers Farms, California Giant Berry Farms and Sysco, plus field tours for produce buyers on Salinas Valley ranches. Two of those sessions ran as features in The Snack magazine in 2026: Church Brothers Farms in the June issue and California Giant Berry Farms earlier in the year. I have photographed on the Monterey Peninsula for twenty years for Adobe, Apple, Sotheby's and the Monterey Symphony, and the Salinas Valley is thirty minutes from my door in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Can you photograph during harvest and inside a cooler or plant?

Yes. I follow your food safety and visitor rules without being asked: hairnet, no jewelry, closed shoes, hi-vis vest, sign-in, and I stay where your safety lead puts me. Harvest starts before sunrise, so I am in the field at first light. Inside a cooler or fresh-cut plant the 102-megapixel medium-format camera handles low light without flash, and I bring lighting for portraits on the line when you want them.

Do you fly a drone over the fields?

Yes. I hold an FAA Part 107 license and fly with the grower's permission. Aerials of a ranch, a harvest crew working a block or a new facility are included on full-day bookings where the property allows it. Airspace near the Salinas airport needs an authorization, which I handle in advance.

How fast do we get our photos?

Edited social selects are sent from the field the same day on request, usually within a couple of hours, so your marketing team can post while the tour is still happening. The full edited gallery is delivered within 48 to 72 hours through a private online gallery your whole company can download from, in web and print sizes.

Can you photograph our leadership team for a trade magazine feature?

Yes. The Church Brothers Farms and California Giant Berry Farms portraits on this page were made for features in The Snack. I shoot to the editor's specification, deliver horizontal and vertical versions of every portrait with room for type, and send print-resolution files that hold up as a full-page opener. The same files work for your website, annual report and LinkedIn.

Where do you work?

Salinas, Castroville, Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield, King City, Watsonville, Hollister and Monterey, with no travel charge anywhere in Monterey County. Ranches, coolers, packing sheds, fresh-cut plants, the Salinas arch and Oldtown, and the hotels and venues where the industry meets, including The Barns at Cooper Molera and the Monterey Conference Center. Santa Cruz and San Benito counties are quoted with a small travel fee.

“Manny was an absolute professional during our produce field tour. He was at the first tour location before our group even arrived. He quickly turned around a few candid shots for us to use on social media while he curates the full photo package. We will definitely use him again!”
