Carmel-by-the-Sea turned 110, and the town celebrated the way it always does: with a Halloween parade down Ocean Avenue. It is small-town and a little hokey in the best way, with families lining the curbs, vintage trucks full of costumed kids, and the mayor, council members and civic groups all on the route together. I photographed the whole parade myself on Friday afternoon, October 30, 2026, including my son, Luca Espinoza, who drove the route in his toy police car: 84 photos, from 3:45 PM to 4:57 PM, shown in the order I took them. Read the story and see my favorite frames.
